The Great Western Tiers district is an area of lush, attractive farmlands, historic buildings and villages, and some of the most spectacular natural scenery Tasmania has to offer. It has also become a centre for the creative arts.

Located between Launceston and Devonport in the north of Tasmania, the Great Western Tiers area is home to some 17,000 people. The district extends west from Launceston and south to the towering majesty of the Great Western Tiers, which boasts World Heritage status.

There are over 40 towns and villages in the Great Western Tiers district, some serving as regional centres, some no more than a small collection of houses. Many modern conveniences and services are available throughout the district.
